I have been working on a draft, at home, so excuse me if you don’t see me brown bagging for a while. I barely have time to shower and cook something to eat, let alone arrange my food in a box, take a picture and write something that is at least comprehensible. Once I write 20 more pages, I will be back. I promise.
Meanwhile, I provide you with some entertainment (or horror, depending on how you approach this). Those of you who know me probably have realized my fascination with 50s exploitation movies that deal with the supposed threats of communism, drugs, homosexuality and other evils of modernity. A recent posting at feministing had perfect timing to provide me a resource for some digression: an instructional video for women who are supposed to cook because, well… they finally managed to get married. Excellent sexist propaganda, retro style:
People who bought this also bought the following: Reefer Madness, Perversion for Profit, Duck and Cover, Boys Beware, Dating Dos and Donts, How Much Affection?, Sex Madness, Are You Ready for Marriage? and Maniac.
And those who were suffocated by this, perhaps could get their healthy dose of vintage cooking show from this. As always, Julia is amazing (and very funny).
